Cell-cultivated ingredient for plant-based meat
VISION
Global meat consumption is growing steadily and is expected to double by 2050. Factory farming is driving climate change and harming the environment. One of the solutions available on the supermarket shelves today is plant-based meat alternatives. Unfortunately, many consumers are not satisfied with the meat alternatives available today and do not want to compromise on taste and texture. We believe that the adoption of meat alternatives would be greatly accelerated through better tasting meat alternative products.


OUR SOLUTION
A huge opportunity to win on taste is hybrid products - a combination of plant-based protein and cell-based ingredients, such as cultivated fat. In Cultimate we create a game-changing alternative fat ingredient that brings the authentic meaty taste and texture to plant-based meat products. By using modern cellular agriculture technologies, we grow real fat cells without any harm to animals. We're working hard on our revolutionary ingredient, which will elevate the taste and flavor of plant-based meats to a level that rivals traditional meat.
ERDF FUNDING FOR CULTIMATE FOODS
Cultimate Foods has been awarded funding by the Investment Bank of Berlin (IBB), co- financed by the European Union via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This support significantly contributes to scaling the biotechnological process for producing cultivated animal fat as functional ingredient to enhance the flavour of plant-based foods.
The project focuses on the development of a cost-efficient, animal-free culture medium, the optimization of differentiation protocols, and the scale-up of bioreactor processes to enable industrial production and establish cultivated fat as a viable and sustainable food ingredient.
